We added Google Hot Trends to the Ideas menu of the VRE Toolbar.

Hot Trends reflects what people are searching for on Google today. With Hot Trends, you can see a snapshot of what’s on the public’s collective mind by viewing the fastest-rising searches for different points of time. You can see a list of today’s top 100 fastest-rising search queries in the U.S. You can also select a recent date in history to see what the top rising searches were and what the search activity looked like over the course of that day.

Rather than showing the most popular searches overall, which would always be generic terms like “weather,” Hot Trends highlights searches that have sudden surges in popularity. Google’s algorithm analyzes millions of web searches performed on their search engine and displays those searches that deviate the most from their historic traffic pattern. The algorithm also filters out spam and removes inappropriate material.

For each search, Hot Trends shows related searches, a search-volume graph, and the top cities. It also displays news, blog, and web results to help give context about why a search may be appearing on the Hot Trends list today. You can also choose a date in the past to see what the top Hot Trends for that date were.

Google updates Hot Trends hourly.

If you’ve ever had to write something for yourself, whether it’s a resume or a more in-depth piece for your company website, you’ll know how difficult it can be. You can spend hours staring at a blank screen, wondering exactly where to start. Thankfully, there are professionals around who can do this for you, and nowhere is this more apt than at the relatively young site, Need-An-Article.com.

Have you ever tried to find a freelance writer to complete your work for you? Then you know exactly how difficult it can be to find a good one. Not only does the writer have to know your exact needs, he or she has to be able to write the kind of article that you yourself would be happy to talk about – therefore, finding a good writer is paramount to any success an article is going to bring you.

This is where Need-An-Article.com is different from the majority of the other sites out there. Due to the way that Need-An-Article.com is set up, you can be sure that you’re only getting the very best, not one time but every time. This is due to the unique way that both clients and writers can communicate with each other, and the rigorous quality control that the owner Scott Foster instills on both sides.

The NAA Difference

Unlike the majority of other freelance writing sites, Need-An-Article.com puts equal emphasis on both client and writer. The benefit of this is that only the best writers are attracted to the site, while clients can relax, safe in the knowledge that their requested work is going to be written by someone who knows or can research the chosen subject well. So how does it all work, and how will it benefit you?

The NAA Writers

One of the key differences in the approach of Need-An-Article.com is the way that the writers on the site are chosen. Unlike other freelance sites, where pretty much anyone who knows how to use a computer can enroll – and if you’ve used any of these sites, you’ll know what that can mean regarding quality – NAA has a strict pre-membership writing test to take.

And since the writers are drawn from all walks of life, with various levels of experience in a whole host of topics, Need-An-Article.com can probably boast one of the most comprehensive knowledge bases around. Couple that with the ability to provide informative articles that are still entertaining, and you can see why this site is fast becoming one of the best on the market for article requests.

The Benefits to the Client

However, it’s not just with its writers that NAA excels (although this is a key strength). It’s also in the way that it’s been set up with the client in mind as well, to make sure that although it’s an automated service, it never feels like you’re left out of the loop.

For instance, the user interface that greets clients when they log in to their private members area is extremely streamlined and easy-to-use. The simple user page allows you to see the status of your article request through the whole submission process – when a writer has picked it up, when it’s been submitted to the proofreader, and when it’s ready to collect and use wherever you need it.

It also allows you to request one-time changes to an article, if you feel that the writer has missed an important piece of information, for instance. This kind of interactivity is pretty much unheard of with this kind of site, and helps Need-An-Article.com stand out from its competitors.

Need-An-Article.com – The Way Forward

Perhaps the best recommendation for Need-An-Article.com is the simple fact that it’s an ever-changing process. New features are being added all the time, such as the ability to request ebooks and sales copy.

By having a professional writer come up with unique content on these kind of articles, as opposed to relying on often-stale sounding private label ebooks and articles, you’ll have a much better chance of standing out from the crowd. And that’s got to be worth anybody’s time and money.

Here’s a question I felt I had to answer as part of “Make Your Dreams a Reality!” month, since it’s probably one that a lot of beginning marketers have on their minds.

It comes from Katerina, who writes:

I have read all the ebooks and have the programs to find niches and still I come up empty handed because when you follow the directions you discover that most of the niches I like have a high demand but also high supply.

I have not found yet a niche that has a good demand but a low supply.

Are niches all dried up now?

Well, Katerina, if I said the Internet isn’t becoming more competitive, I would be lying. If I told you that finding a niche market on the Internet is as easy today as it was five years ago, I would be lying.

The Internet is a competitive hunting ground, and it’s only going to get more competitive — but does that mean all the good opportunities are gone?

NO!!!

You are talking about a business medium that allows you to reach every wired corner of the world from your computer at home. According the Internet World Stats, as of June 10, 2007 there were 1.133 BILLION people online — and it’s still growing at a phenomenal rate.

With those kinds of numbers, I’d be willing to guess there are still a few great opportunities waiting to be discovered!

However, the fact is: If your hobby or interest happens to be something like “golf” or “health products,” the chances of finding a niche are slim to none. These are saturated markets, and it’s time to expand beyond them.

If you are serious about making money online and you have explored your interests and have found them to be too competitive, then it’s time to broaden the scope of your search.

What would you enjoy learning more about? Don’t let your lack of knowledge stop you from exploring a topic you’re interested in. I know if I set aside an hour a day for the next month and immersed myself in an unfamiliar niche, I would have enough knowledge to start an online business based on that topic.

The point I am trying to make here, is don’t limit yourself to what you know today. Broaden the scope of your search and explore new niches where you aren’t already an expert — and all of sudden different potential businesses will start to appear.

My final comment is this: Don’t always write a business opportunity off simply because there’s some competition in the market. Rather, you should determine the viability of an opportunity by analyzing the quality of the competition.

If you look at the competition and believe you could do a better job meeting the needs of the market — if you can come up with a unique selling proposition that offers more value and truly differentiates you from all the other sellers out there — then you can be massively successful in an already competitive market.

Remember: Perseverance is key! Like Albert Einstein said:

It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.

To your success…

These days we celebrate a One-Year Anniversary of Virtual Real Estate Toolbar.

The toolbar was started as a convenient way to organize my efforts of building and promoting my VRE websites. I wanted a tool that would be able to guide me through the entire process:

from picking the idea for the new website >>

to creating a list of related keywords, >>

to choosing a domain name and hosting, >>

to designing the website and filling it with related content, >>

…and finally, to driving traffic, over and over, and over again.

Many people liked the tool, and I made it semi-public, for The Reese Report subscribers only. That version was for Internet Explorer only, and I started getting requests to create a Firefox version.

After a short period of time, the FF version has been launched, and both versions became public.

Over 20,000 webmasters and online entrepreneurs have downloaded the VRE Toolbar since July 2006. Thousands of them are using it daily.

I would like to thank all contributors and users of Virtual Real Estate Toolbar for your help and suggestions to make it even better.

We’ve just added a bookmark to myGoals.com into the VRE Toolbar (see Ideas > myGoals.com). This resource can inspire you what niche business to start.

myGoals.com is the Web’s premier site for setting, managing, and reaching personal and professional goals. Their website users can set as many goals as they like, creating custom GoalPlans from scratch or selecting from a library of pre-made GoalPlans that contain expert advice for accomplishing the goal.

There are literally hundreds of subcategories in their goals directory, from all areas of interests. For example, there are 100+ subcategories in the Personal Growth & Interests category alone.

Inside every subcategory there are two lists. The first one is called “Some ideas” and the second one is “Pre-made Goalplans”. This is where it gets interesting!

Let’s take a look at the “Some ideas” list in the Family & Relationships > Clothing & Personal Style (Women) category:

“To dress for success”

“To always look well groomed”

Gary Harvey, “Mr. FindHotMarkets”, offers a free 14-page report How To Research The Profit Potential Of Any Niche, Using Free Online Tools.

When selling a product, a lot of people make the mistake of developing their product first, and then trying to find a market for it. Of course, the process should be reversed. Find a market first that spends money, then find out what they want and give it to them.

It is certainly easier said than done, but there are a lot of places online where you can do your market research for free. They’ve done most of the work for you already. You just need to know where to go and what to do to connect all the dots.

Gary shows the process he goes through when he’s trying to brainstorm for ideas.

VRE Toolbar simplifies access to most of the tools recommended by Gary (see the Ideas and Keywords menu items).
